Hannover (15.11.2022). Deutsche Messe has launched a Call for Papers for LightCon, the international conference trade fair on the future of lightweight construction. Speakers are being sought for the new trade fair on the subject of lightweight construction. At the trade fair, experts from the industry will have the opportunity to present groundbreaking ideas and new approaches to lightweight construction to an international audience of experts from 13 to 14 June 2023.

Deutsche Messe is organizing LightCon for the second time. Under the motto "Lightweight design as the answer to energy and material scarcity", the international lightweight construction community will meet at the Hannover exhibition center. The core element is a conference stage, which will be integrated into the exhibition for the first time. Speakers will present their lightweight innovations and solutions on this stage. The event committee is looking forward to receiving interesting proposals for speakers and contributions by December 31, 2022. The conference language of LightCon is English. The following lightweight construction topics will be discussed: "Sustainable Materials", "Circular Economy", "Efficient Production", and "New Energy Solutions".

"Lightweight construction combines resource conservation with economic potential and can thus contribute significantly to solutions to the challenges of climate protection and energy scarcity. With our congress motto "Lightweight design as the answer to energy and material scarcity", we are picking up on the current challenges. By integrating the conference stage into the exhibition, we are linking the exhibition and specialist presentations even more closely and creating space for exchange between visitors, exhibitors and speakers," says Thomas Pinkowski, LightCon Project Manager at Deutsche Messe.

LightCon is the first international lightweight construction platform to combine the dimensions of material, process, function and design. In addition, the focus is on solutions for all user industries of lightweight construction. LightCon is thus the first trade fair to enable direct comparison of different materials and processes. In addition to the exhibitors, the trade visitors will include employees and interested parties from the user industries: Automotive and vehicle construction, mechanical and plant engineering, aerospace, medical technology and the construction industry.

The founding partner of LightCon is Composites United e.V., the world's largest network for fiber-based multi-material lightweight construction. Dr. Bastian Brenken is responsible for the program design. He explains: "Lightweight construction is the answer to the current challenge of energy and material scarcity, as well as one of the essential technological solutions for overcoming the superimposed climate crisis, and is therefore more relevant than ever. This is reflected in the program with regard to the conference topics: With "Sustainable Materials", "Circular Economy", "Efficient Production" and "New Energy Solutions", key topics for sustainable lightweight solutions are addressed.
