LightCon 2023 - Lightweight construction to combat energy and material
At LightCon, everything revolves around lightweight construction technology on June 13 at the trade fair center in Hanover. Visitors can expect an exciting day program under the heading "Lightweight Design as the Answer to Energy and Material Scarcity". The top-class expert presentations will focus in particular on the topics of "Sustainable Materials", "Circular Economy", "Efficient Production" and "New Energy Solutions".

Hanover (22.05.2023). At LightCon, everything revolves around lightweight construction technology on June 13 at the trade fair center in Hanover. Visitors can expect an exciting day program under the heading "Lightweight Design as the Answer to Energy and Material Scarcity". Stefanie Brickwede, Managing Director of the leading international 3D printing network Mobility goes Additive, says: "Prices for raw materials will rise even further in the future. That makes lightweight technology more relevant than ever. LightCon offers compressed expertise and networking opportunities at just the right time." The top-class expert presentations will focus in particular on the topics of "Sustainable Materials," "Circular Economy," "Efficient Production" and "New Energy Solutions." The conference language is English.
LightCon is being organized under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. Lower Saxony's Minister of Economics Olaf Lies will open the conference. This year's partner country Poland will be represented by Grzegorz Piechowiak, Poland's Deputy Minister for Development and Technology. In addition to innovative solutions from Polish industry, he also wants to emphasize the advantages of his country as an investment location at LightCon.
The keynotes from the industry will be held by experts from the aerospace and shipping industries, among others. For example, Markus Feiler, Head of Aerostructure R&T at Airbus Aerostructures, will speak on "Lightweight aerostructures for sustainable aviation" and Jan Henkel, Vice President at Fassmer Maritime, will give a presentation entitled "Shipbuilding and Composites - an undiscovered Lovestory". Dr. Walther Pelzer, member of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), will describe the latest technical developments in the field of space in his presentation entitled "Lightweight solutions and digital twin technologies for current and future space applications." The latest findings from the fields of research and science will be presented in the keynotes "Lightweight design for sustainability and climate protection" by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Wörner, President of acatech - German Academy of Science and Engineering, and Prof. Anna Boczkowska, Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology.
On the sidelines of the conference, companies from industry, research and development will present their products and services. The evening of the conference day will provide an opportunity for exchange between experts from the automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, aerospace, medical technology and construction industries.
