Hannover, Germany. From 23 to 24 June 2021, LightCon features a two-day conference program of keynotes, panels and lectures as well as a trade fair with showcases and live presentations. LightCon is the first international platform that focuses on lightweight construction solutions across materials and technologies – for all user industries. This includes new production technologies, material trends and hybrid material solutions as well as construction, design and innovative lightweight construction concepts.

An advisory board provides technical and conceptual advice. Chairman Dr. Gunnar Merz, managing director of LightCon's founding partner Composites United, praises the broad-based positioning of the 16-member advisory board: "I am delighted that such experts from all material sectors and so many important networks are on board. Thus, the advisory board reflects LightCon's interdisciplinary, material and technology open approach in an ideal way".

LightCon’s advisory board also develops content for the conference. The keynote themes – sustainability, eco-efficiency and CO2 reduction – are among the most urgent challenges of our time. The Lightweight Construction Technology Transfer Program earmarks more than 90 percent of its €300 million budget for projects addressing these issues. Germany’s Ministry of Economics and Technology launched the program in 2020. In addition to politicians, the LightCon expert committee is also convinced that lightweight construction solutions are indispensable for achieving climate targets and a sustainable economy. "Sustainability Needs Lightweight Design" is therefore the motto of LightCon 2021 and focuses on four key topics: material solutions, manufacturing innovations, sustainable lightweight engineering and design, and applications and use cases. The deadline for submitting presentations on these topics is December 10. The conference language at LightCon is English.
