LightCon 2023 - Lightweight construction to combat energy and material

Second edition of LightCon in June 2023

Striking the right nerve: successful premiere of LightCon

The premiere of the LightCon conference trade show (June 1 and 2) obviously hit the right nerve. After two years of pandemic, the first physical meeting of the lightweight community had been eagerly awaited. LightCon proved to be a new, attractive industry meeting place, offering more than 14 hours of high-quality programming over two days and providing strong answers to the global challenges of resource efficiency and climate protection for a sustainable circular economy.

Around 40 national and international speakers, 14 hours of program, five top-class keynotes and four industry-oriented focus topics over two days - the LightCon conference program on June 1 and 2 offers a concentrated load of information and presentations on all aspects of the lightweight construction industry.

Airbus, Bosch, IBM, VW and Affan Innovative Structures - the premiere of LightCon kicks off with keynotes from five market-leading companies. On June 1 and 2, the new congress trade show all about hybrid and sustainable lightweight solutions will offer a top-class conference program. The motto is "Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy" and focuses on the global challenges of resource efficiency and climate protection for a sustainable circular economy.

Robert Habeck takes over patronage of LightCon

Dr. Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, will be the patron of LightCon on June 1 and 2, which will take place immediately after the Lightweighting Summit on May 31. This means that, in addition to the Lightweighting Summit of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, another high-profile lightweighting event is on the agenda.

LightCon is held parallel to HANNOVER MESSE

LightCon will be held this year on 1 and 2 June as an independent event parallel to HANNOVER MESSE. The world's most important industrial trade fair has been moved from April to June (30 May to 2 June) due to the current pandemic. The new LightCon congress fair for lightweight construction is therefore moving from Hall 2 to Halls 19 and 20.

Call for Papers launched: LightCon seeks exciting program contribution

From June 1 to 2, 2022, the new LightCon congress trade show for lightweight construction will celebrate its premiere in Hanover. The call for papers has now been launched for the conference, which will be held under the motto "Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy". The event committee is looking forward to receiving interesting contributions on the topic of lightweight construction by December 4, 2021.

The new LightCon event planned for early October 2021 has been postponed. The new date of LightCon is 1 - 2 June 2022.

First highlights have been determined

From October 6 to 7, 2021, the new hybrid event for lightweight design, LightCon, will be launched in Hannover for the first time. Under the guiding theme "Sustainability needs Lightweight Design" the two-day event will focus on the global challenges of sustainability, climate and resource protection, and the reduction of CO2 emissions. Lightweight technologies are enablers for achieving global climate targets.

New date for LightCon in fall 2021

More than a year ago, the coronavirus was detected in Germany for the first time. Since then, nothing has been the same. The event industry in particular is facing unprecedented challenges in light of the ongoing COVID pandemic. In close consultation with exhibitors and partners, Deutsche Messe AG has therefore decided to postpone LightCon. Now, the new congress and trade fair for lightweight construction will be held for the first time in Hannover from 6 to 7 October 2021.

LightCon: Call for Papers has officially started

In June 2021, LightCon – the new event for lightweight construction solutions – will celebrate its premiere in Hannover. Under the motto "Sustainability Needs Lightweight Design", the Call for Papers is open until 10 December 2020. LightCon 2021 focuses on pressing social challenges such as sustainability, resource efficiency and CO2 savings. Lightweight construction technologies play a key role in meeting these challenges.

LightCon Preview Week: Webinar series whets appetite for LightCon 2021

The LightCon premiere was postponed to June 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The LightCon Preview Week from 22 to 26 June 2020 offers a taste of what awaits participants in a year's time. For a whole week, daily live webinars will cover various topics from the new congress and trade fair for lightweight construction solutions that span materials and technologies. The preview is organized by LightCon in cooperation with its founding partner Composites United.

LightCon to celebrate premiere in June 2021

There is currently a lot of movement in the trade fair calendar. The new congress-fair LightCon is therefore postponing its premiere by one year. The cross-technology platform for lightweight solutions will open its doors for the first time from 23 to 24 June 2021.

Federal Minister Altmaier assumes patronage of LightCon

LightCon, the new conference and exposition (“confex”) is the first cross-material, cross-technology platform for lightweight construction solutions. A growing number of associations and organizations have become partners of the event, which runs from 23 to 24 June in Hannover, Germany. The event enjoys key support by the German federal government, with Economics Minister Peter Altmaier now serving as the official patron of LightCon.
