

LightCon 2021 during COVID-19
Answers to the most important questions regarding the postponement of LightCon 2021 and your participation. The FAQs are updated on a regular basis depending on development of the ongoing situation (as of 03/2021).
LightCon is postponed to the fall (6 to 7 October 2021)
The reasons for the postponement of LightCon 2021 to the fall are mainly due to the current developments of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
Major conceptual elements of LightCon include personal networking, haptic experience of the exhibits and the live conference program on-site. The premiere of the conference trade fair should therefore be able to take place as a face-to-face event in a secure environment. Despite cautious opening strategies and a Corona vaccination campaign being launched, this would not be assured for the originally planned date in June in consideration of the health of all participants as well as their business success.
By postponing the event, we are therefore responding to the wishes of numerous customers for a face-to-face event and increasing the planning reliability for all parties involved
The highest possible standards of hygiene, safety and medical care will be ensured for LightCon 2021. The health of all customers, partners and guests is a priority for us. Like other trade fair companies in Germany, we will follow the strict guidelines of the health authorities and the Robert Koch Institute. The corresponding hygiene and protection concept is in place, and with the hosting of infa in October 2020, it has also been proven in practice that events can be held safely in times of a pandemic. We will also implement a full registration of participants in order to be able to track who has been on the exhibition grounds and when. We are planning LightCon 2021 in October as a hybrid event with an on-site conference and trade show part at the Hannover exhibition center as well as additional digital participation formats for visitors and exhibitors.
Those exhibitors and visitors that cannot travel for various reasons have the opportunity to participate at LightCon virtually - network with existing and new business partners from all over the world. We want to enable an international exchange in the world of lightweight construction – despite the pandemic.
For exhibitors, there are two digital participation packages (Digital Package S and M) with features such as exhibitor live streaming, matchmaking & business dating and new opportunities for digital product presentation. When booking a stand space or a physical stand, the Digital Package S is already included. An upgrade to Package M is optional. Exhibitors can also participate solely with a digital package.

Protective measures and requirements for exhibition stand planning
When designing, constructing and organizing exhibition stands, as well as during the event on the stand, infection protection is the responsibility of the exhibitor along with their contractors. With immediate effect and until further notice the Technical Guidelines of Deutsche Messe AG shall be accompanied by a catalog of measures for infection protection .
Please pay attention to the protective measures and requirements for exhibitors and stand construction companies commissioned by you. These must be implemented at your own responsibility during the construction and dismantling periods and in connection with site logistics. Currently, these include, among other things, compliance with the distance and hygiene rules as well as the installation of temporary spit protection devices and/or the obligation to wear mouth-to-nose coverings where the minimum distance of 1.50 m cannot be maintained.
Cancellation
In order to give you more security when registering, we have decided not to charge you any cancellation fees in the event of your withdrawal in accordance with section 10 of the Conditions of Participation until 30.04.2021. As of 01.05.2021, you will be charged a percentage of the regular participation fee in the form of a cancellation fee in accordance with section 10.3 of the Conditions of Participation (10% by 27.07., 25% by 24.08., 50% by 14.09., 100% as of 15.09.).
It is our firm goal to hold LightCon 2021 as a hybrid event at the scheduled time of October 6-7, 2021. However, the safety and health of all customers, partners and guests is our number one priority. We are in constant exchange with the authorities regarding the current developments around COVID-19, always assess the situation according to the current status and initiate necessary measures. In justified exceptional situations, Deutsche Messe is also entitled to cancel the on-site part of the event or the entire event (on-site and digital part). In doing so, we take into account the interests of all affected trade fair participants (in particular exhibitors, visitors, conference participants, speakers, sponsors, etc.) with regard to both the purpose of the event and the necessary considerations regarding safety and security, and endeavor to find a solution that is as amicable as possible.
Complete cancellation of the entire event
In order to ensure that the booking is completely risk-free for you, in the unlikely event of a complete cancellation of the event, we shall not bill the exhibitor for costs incurred and, if applicable, also refund any stand rent already paid.
Cancellation of the on-site event part
If the on-site part of the event is cancelled, only the digital part will be held. Exhibitors who have ordered a hybrid participation package (stand space or exhibition stand plus digital package) will then participate in the event only with the digital package they have selected, unless they cancel within 14 days. In this case, they will pay the regular price that the Digital Package costs if booked separately.
Exhibitors that have booked only a Digital Package, the cancellation of the on-site part of the event will not have any effect on their participation.

Services ordered directly from third parties (service providers, service partners) are governed exclusively by the contractual relationship between the parties that concluded the contract. In this case, Deutsche Messe will not reimburse any costs.
You have the possibility to adapt your registration wishes for your stand area until your official stand confirmation. We will implement these as far as possible. Even if you still have change requests after receiving the stand confirmation, you can be sure that we will work with you to find a suitable solution.
